craftiness So I haven't had the chance to craft much lately thanks to accounting class and the moms club newsletter... BUT I did get a chance to take and upload pics of what I have been wanting to make something crafty out of. This is mainly to share with my many crafty blogger buddies/friends (oh okay, there's only one...) haha. And if something actually gets made with these, I wanna see it. =P Another friend recently asked me where I got my inspiration for my cards, so I thought it would be fun to share what I do find inspiring.

  yesterday was nice So I got all that done yesterday, and then even had some time to myself to craft. Wow. That was nice. I ended up getting two more cards made. I'm in love with these. They came out so much better than the last few that I made in a hurry for the card exchange. I have a few more I need to make, then I will post pictures when they reach their destinations. =)

I'm not sure how much I'm going to get done today, as Carlee is panicking everytime she feels like she has to go to the bathroom. I rush her to the potty and.... nothing happens. lol. I know she has the feeling, but the timing is still off. Wish us luck. :)

I'm getting back into my scrapbooking. I ordered a few things from a friend who sells Close to My Heart scrapbooking supplies, so I can't wait for that to come in. However, last night I realized all the pictures that I wanted to scrapbook for Carlee are in the external hard drive. Nice place for them, huh? So, in the next few days, I'll be uploading to snapfish and ordering copies. I should also back the new ones up on dvd as well while I'm at it. I should probably just back them all up, since I don't know what happen to the old pictures on dvd either...... hmm....

  Some paper crafting Since the flight this past weekend was cancelled, we have to try early this week. *crossing fingers* Today, we had thought about going to the beach, and that ended up not happening. I did get pretty much the whole day "off" as Tony took care of Carlee all day, and I even got to get some crafting done. I went upstairs and flipped through a whole stack of craft books. I had wanted to try a little bit of sewing, but talked myself out of it since I didn't want to try anything new when I'm already quite stressed, plus I didn't want to start a big project when we're (hopefully) leaving in a few days. So I flipped through a few more books, saw a picture of a decopaged bowl that held a candle, and knew I had the tissue paper to do it (what packrat doesn't have tissue paper?) and I had a plain glass decorative bowl that I meant to spruce up years ago. I ran and grabbed it, started cutting up my paper, and cut out some butterflies from some left over wrapping paper from Carlee's birthday (yes, I'm telling you, I save EVERYTHING.) haha. Anyway, here's how it turned out:

I'm quite pleased with it. :D It was a perfect holder for a candle.

Last week, I also got to make 2 sets of cards for a card swap. Again, I used some left over wrapping paper from Carlee's birthday party. I had fallen in love with the print (which was why I used it for her presents) and saved everything that was left over (stealing it back out of the wrapping paper trash pile after the party more than once LOL). Tony could not understand why I saved it until he saw my simple little cards:

I wish I had a scanner :( Oh well.... This one I love too. I used one of my favorite stamps and colored with color pencils (copying the design on the stamp.) I couldn't figure out what else to do with the background, because to me it looks a little plain with just the blue, but I didn't want it to take away from the girl either. Anywho... I only made one because it took forever to color. :D
So that's what I've been up to today. :D I also have a 2 carrot cakes cooling right now. One I'm taking to the MOMS Club lunch bunch tomorrow. I can't wait to taste it and see how it came out.

Oh, also amazingly, today was the first cloudy day so far this summer. It looked like it was almost going to rain. Almost. But didn't.

  Ta Da! I didn't finish it time for the shower, but the day after. Oh well. I've decided to wait to give it to my friend, but I will still show you guys because I don't think she reads my blog anyway. Here it is:

I used a pattern out of the Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hookers book. I thought the design was too cute, and I loved the colors; they remind me of icecream. It was pretty easy for me too, nothing too tough. :D

This is my next project. My first attempt at changing yarn colors in the middle of a design instead of at the ends of rows. It took me a little bit to get the hang of it, plus it made it easier that it was pretty symmetrical. It's going to be a purse. It's also another pattern out of the Happy Hooker book. In other craftiness, I'm patiently awaiting an order of beginner sewing books from amazon and some too freakin cute reproduction of 50s fabric. I've been itching to learn to sew for a long time. My first attempt back in high school ended after only ten minutes of trying, because in that amount of time I managed to break 2 or 3 of my grandma's sewing machine needles. "How are you breaking these?" I remember her asking after running out of replacement needles.

"I'm just trying to sew this jeans purse," I said, not knowing that the sewing machine was not equipped with needles strong enough to sew through the demin, especially the seams and such. I didn't try again until I lived in Florida, and my grandma, while visiting, helped me make a little outfit for Carlee. Once I got here to Italy, I tried to make another of the same pattern, and instead of making the little bloomers I got a lopsided square of fabric somehow. :) But I'm ready to try again, this time with a pretty mom and daughter apron set.

Hopefully I'll do allright.

  Matching Hats This was the first hat I made for Carlee. I used the loom. It was a lot of fun. I think I made it a little small though, I should have kept adding more rows to the fuzzy part. I also made one for me so now Carlee and I match. lol.

The new little loom book that I bought is so much better at giving instructions than the little kit I bought for Christmas. This time was not nearly as hard as my leggings were, and it took about half the time. I was really looking foward to crafting while here in the states since everything is so available, but I've found that I'm a little overwhelmed. I'm not sure what exactly I want to work on, or what I should send home. My Grandma gave me some patterns, and we went to the fabric store I was so excited about going to.. and boy, it was huge. I didn't even know where to begin. I ended up not even buying anything yet, because I wasn't sure what to buy. They had so many unique prints, it was awesome. I'm planning on going back once I decide which patterns I want to attempt first.

I have started learning crochet. My Grandma had wanted to learn, so it's something we can do together while I'm here. I think I have the the first few basic stitches down, but the only thing I'm doing wrong is making them too tight. We're going to work on it today. We can't wait to get good at it so we can start making bigger things than just little potholders. :P
